Over the course of a 0.75-mile loop, Hammock Hills Nature Trail runs through some of the highest points on the island and offers an up-close experience with a diverse collection of plants and wildlife. There’s a raised platform at the halfway point for better views of Pamlico Sound and its marshes.

The Hammock Hills Nature Trail parking lot is located on Highway 12, across the street from the National Park Service’s Ocracoke Campground. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Bug repellent is recommended.
