DESCRIPTION:August 6-8\n\n\n\nCelebrate one of Ocracoke Island’s sweetest traditions at the 13th Annual Ocracoke Fig Festival\, a free\, family-friendly event honoring the island’s beloved fig trees and the bounty of summer. The festival takes place August 6–8\, 2026 at the historic Berkley Barn.\n\n\n\nThe weekend features live music day and night\, traditional Ocracoke square dancing\, children’s crafts\, talks by local fig experts\, and vendor booths offering fig preserves\, fig cakes\, fig art\, fig trees\, fig beer\, local cookbooks\, and other fig-inspired creations.\n\n\n\nThe festival’s signature event is the Fig Cake Bake-Off\, where bakers compete in categories including Traditional\, Innovative Dessert\, and Savory\, along with a Youth category for young bakers. This year’s guest judge will be Chef Jamie Davis\, Executive Chef of The Hackney in Washington\, N.C. and a 2024 James Beard Best Chef Southeast finalist\, known for his dedication to North Carolina seafood and local ingredients.\n\n\n\nChef Davis will also be the special guest at the popular Savory Fig Dinner on Thursday evening\, August 6\, a ticketed fundraising event featuring creative fig dishes from local chefs and a special dish by Chef Davis.\n\n\n\nThroughout the weeks surrounding the festival\, Ocracoke restaurants will celebrate peak fig season by offering fig-inspired menu items\, both sweet and savory\, and visitors can bring home a taste of the island with locally made fig preserves available in village shops.\n\n\n\nFestival proceeds support the John Simpson Memorial Scholarship\, awarded each year to an Ocracoke graduating senior.\n\n\n\nThe Ocracoke Fig Festival is sponsored by Mended Wing Theatre Company\, a grassroots arts-based nonprofit organization based on Ocracoke Island.\n\n\n\nFor more information\, including the full schedule\, bake-off details\, and vendor opportunities\, visit ocracokefigfestival.com.
